Why Our School

Lyon has a special focus on building community and relationships. Using a “looping model,” students stay with the same teacher for two years. This builds strong relationships between students, teachers, and parents. All fourth-grade students participate in the Exploratory Strings Program and receive a half-year of violin lessons.

Lyon also houses two types of autism spectrum disorder self-contained programs in K-2 and 3-5. Lyon has a sensory room with equipment to help autistic students rebalance or meet their sensory needs. Using an inclusion model, some special education students receive individual support in general education classrooms with pull-out time to ensure all academic, social and emotional needs are met.
